Praying for Politicians - UK

Encouraging wholesome talk and prayer towards our politicians

Praying for Politicians is an initiative with the sole aim of praying for all UK politicians from across parties.

We follow the words in 1 Timothy 2:1-4

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

We need to pray for the those in authority. In Christian life we appreciate that words are powerful. They can build and they can destroy. Most politicians receive a lot of negativity but let's pray as instructed.

Who are we praying for by name?

650 members of the House of Commons

798 members of the House of Lords

129 members of the Scottish Parliament

108 members of the Northern Ireland Assembly

60 members of the Welsh Assembly

The following may help you in your daily prayer:

  • Pray that God will guide them
  • Pray that they are wise and discerning and surrounded by effective advisors
  • Pray for their protection and protection over their families
  • Pray for that Christian politicians will have the strength to remain encouraged in the divine call that led them into politics
  • Pray for God's will to be done and for our leaders to seek God in making the right decisions.
  • Pray for our politicians to received Godly counsel
  • Pray that our politicians would find salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

Who are we?

Praying for Politicians has come about through Mike Davies, a church leader and current West Devon Borough Councillor.
